Ride New Orleans invited every 2017 mayoral candidate to take a morning rush hour bus ride with us and other RTA riders. Our next mayor needs to understand what works and what needs to be fixed in our transit system. Voters want to understand what our candidates think about transit and what they’d prioritize if they win.
At the beginning of each ride, we asked each candidate a series of questions about transit in New Orleans and what they would prioritize. We also discussed our 2017 Transit Platform. We recorded those interactions and have placed the videos below for New Orleans transit riders to view and evaluate. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order (Updated by top two runoff candidates, then all candidates).

Ride New Orleans is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We do not make endorsements of candidates. Our educational efforts are intended to educate candidates about transit issues and give them a platform to speak directly to transit riders about transit issues.
Starting in mid-July we reached out to each mayoral candidate via phone and email to schedule a morning rush hour bus ride with our staff, board, and volunteers. 14 of the 18 candidates took us up on our offer over the last seven weeks. We will gladly accommodate any of the remaining candidates who would like to schedule a ride and will post the video promptly on this page. Please contact us at 504-345-8360 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
