Why is this important? The only way local leaders will truly understand the challenges riders face daily is through firsthand experience. Riding the bus will help leaders better realize the importance of public transit and the changes needed to make our system better for everyone. Together, let’s push for a system that ensures all riders can access school, education, healthcare, fresh foods, and the necessities that support thriving communities!
Here’s How You Can Challenge Your Local Leaders! We’ve provided a short sample email to send to local leaders and elected officials:

My name is _____, and I [live in your district, etc.]. I’m writing to encourage you to participate in the RIDE New Orleans “RIDE the Bus Challenge,” which will give you valuable insight into the experiences of transit riders in your community.
As part of this initiative, we are asking leaders and elected officials like you to ride public transit at least twice a week for a month to better understand the challenges that riders face.
