You gave us your questions and we have answers from the RTA! If you would like to ask the RTA a question feel free to email Autumn at autumn@rideneworleans.org and we’ll be sure to get you an answer. Here are some answers to some past questions:
Q: Can the 1-day Jazzy pass be purchased on the Ferry? Cost?
A: Yes, passes are available to purchase on the Ferry. They cost the same as they do for the new fare structure.
Q: I want to know why we can’t have a child fare on the ferry? Most young families on the West Bank don’t take the ferry.
A: We spoke with RTA and since the new fare structure, all child one day passes can be used for bus, streetcar and ferry, meaning young riders only have to pay $1.00 to ride for 24hrs. As for a dedicated child fare on the ferry, when we spoke with RTA they said they’d have to “speak with marketing”. We recognize that this isn’t much of an answer on dedicated child fare ferry passes, so we will follow up!
Q: Can the Algiers ferry start earlier than 10 AM on a Sunday?
A: The ferry’s weekend schedule starts at 6 AM on Sunday. The reliability of the ferry isn’t great, but since the launch of the new boats, we’ve heard there have been improvements. The great thing about the ferry is that if there’s a delay you can see it happening by looking across the river! In the event of this happening we recommend calling the Ride Line here: (504) 248-3900
Q: I’d like to know when the new fare structure would start if implemented.
A: The fare structure was officially implemented on July 1st!
